Including Zig Ziglar’s number 1 tip for success
Most business owners I know don’t have time to waste.
They want to learn how to transition from owning a job to building a business faster and without all the usual trial and error. They want to reach their biggest goals in business, and in life for that matter, without the usual fears that their efforts will amount to nothing.
Whilst I would argue that following a proven framework is the key building a business that makes you more money, increases your free time, and allows you to focus on doing the things that actually inspire you – rather than all the things you think you must do; I agree it’s often difficult to find the formula that works for you.
But the truth is you needn’t waste so much time in endless pursuit of the perfect formula, because when all is said and done the only thing that matters is following a formula that allows you to be of greatest value to the people you seek to serve.
By that I mean, and to quote the late, great sales strategist Zig Zigglar:
“You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.”
Of course, what Zig was referring to is the need to be client-focused, to invest more of your time in being of value.
The crazy part of all this – as I’ve discovered over the past 17 years working in the financial services industry – is that becoming more successful requires doing a lot less. In particular, a lot less of the things that don’t immediately translate to happier clients or the conversion of new clients.
I’d challenge you to stop and think about it: how much of each day and each week are you investing in these two critical areas?
The answer might surprise you.
So how do you grow your professional services business the smart way?
If the goals you set out to achieve seem to be getting farther away, you’re most certainly not alone. The expectations placed upon many business owners can be suffocating to say the least. And here’s why.
Paul Bloom writes in ‘Effective Marketing For Financial Services’ As a business owner
“There’s never an end to chasing. You’re always torn between working and replacing (finding new clients).”
It may seem difficult now. But when you begin to shortlist all of the things you could outsource or automate, all of the things that would free up more of your time to invest in relationships – rather than endless ‘chasing’ – suddenly things get a little clearer.
It was author Tim Ferriss once said,
“It just so happens, paradoxically, that you can make more money, a lot more money, by doing half of what you are doing now.”
How to reach your lofty goals and grow your professional services business in half the time
In 2015, as a sole operator I set out with a grand vision: to build an advice business worth 8-figures within 10 years.
Earlier in 2020 I’m proud to say that along with my team we achieved that goal in less than half the time.
How did we do it?
We got smarter about the things we focused on.
We used effective, time-tested online marketing strategies like SEO, email automation, online booking systems, and content marketing. Instead of chasing new clients, our new clients now chase us.
We leveraged the time and skills of many external services providers.
And we focused more of our time on serving.
Following this formula will change your business and change your life. It will allow you to finally get paid what you’re worth. And best of all it will deliver the free time you need to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Even if that’s simply boogie boarding with your kids on the weekend ?
Ready to shake the tag of ‘job owner’ and learn the formula you can use to attract more of your ideal clients, become an authority in your area, and build your own 7-figure business? The kind of business that delivers the time, money, and fulfillment you set out to achieve?
